Mid-Term
Children’s
Literature
The semester started out really slow, this was because our first time we were supposed to meet, class was canceled
to do a snow day. Then we had only met for two weeks then we didn’t meet for two weeks because Francis was gone. To
be very honest this really through me off because by the time we meet back as a class I just really felt lost and confused.
When we finally got things back together,
the class started to move more smoothly. We started to meet every week at Tibbetts
Middle School were half the students went into one class and they are working on Literature Circles, and the other half of
the class went into another class and we are helping the students on persuasion essays that they are working on. I am in the class that in doing the persuasion essays, the students all have picked a topic that they are
interested in and they had to do research to help prove their points. The class as of right know is still working on their
essays, and as soon as they are done we are supposed to have them start on working with poetry. They are supposed to work by themselves or with two or three other people and act out a poem that they
have picked.
We also talked a lot about Literature Circles and how important they are for students to learn more about what
they are reading about. It helped me to understand them better, know this was in the other class that I am taking from Francis,
when Francis had us meet in group and do our own literature circles about a book that we had read. This helped because it
gave us a good idea about how to run a literature circle.
Throughout the semester we have been working on reading all kinds of children’s literature books. I have read a lot of them and I am still trying to get them all read.
Since we have started this semester I have tried really hard to do all that we need to do, but I have fallen
a little behind and I am working on getting this done. So since we have to grade our selves I would give myself about a B+.
