Illustrator Biography

Arnold Lobel

Born May 22, 1933, died December 4, 1987

Author and illustrator of many children’s books, the most popular are the Frog and Toad Series, Mouse Soup, and the book he won a Caldecott Medal for was Fables.  He has also won award for other books that he has written and/or illustrated.  He not only illustrates he own books, but he also illustrates for others as well.  A good example is Sam the Minuteman by Nathaniel Benchley, which was first published in 1969.
